I would like to tell a couple facts
I didn't know about concussions before I started this project. I did not know
about the fact that if you have a head ache that you could have a concussion.
You can have a lot of effects to know that you have a concussion. The biggest
one and most common that people usually over look is that head ache. That is a
bad thing to look over. A lot of effects are over looked but the heads ache is
usually a common thing. The worst thing to do is always is to look over an
effect of anything. Whenever I get done with any kind of game I usually have a
headache, I am now going to tell an adult whenever I have a headache. I have seemed
to have some of the signs of a concussion, but I have never told anyone.
The second fact that I didn’t know
was about how hard NFL players hit. They study that NFL players hit with 80 g’s
of force. That is equivalent to getting your head smashed by a sledge hammer.
That just really, really shocked me. I never would have thought that people
could hit with that force. The fact that they hit so hard makes me need to work
harder to prepare if I play football for any more of my life. This might be one
of the reasons that I will not play football in high school. I know that makes
me sound like a wimp, but I really don’t want to get a concussion in football
and not be able to play basketball. If I couldn’t play any sports the rest of
my life because of one concussion I had in another sport I wouldn’t be able to
live with myself.
The last thing that really shocked
me was that girls are more likely to receive concussions. I always thought that
both girls and boys were as likely to get concussions. This study on
concussions showed me a lot of thing that really shocked me but that is the
most shocking. This means when I have kids if one of them is a girl I’m going
to make my boys be extra careful. I am also going to be more careful when I am
playing around with my sisters. That makes me want to watch more carefully when
I am watching a girls sport to see if any of them take a concussion causing hit
and blow it off. When my sisters play sports now I am going to go over some
tests with them before they actually play, like asking them if they get
headaches after practices after games to start out with.
